Why training matters.

Building operator competency is an important part of maintaining safe, compliant and productive lifting operations.

01

Safer operations start with competent operators.

With proper training, equipment downtime can be minimized, costly repairs reduced and equipment lifespan prolonged. Ensuring the highest safety standards and compliance with industry regulations requires a structured and sustainable training programme in the material handling equipment sector.

01

WSHA 2006 Compliance

The Workplace Safety & Health Act (WSHA 2006) came into effect on 1st March 2006. It is the duty of every employer to ensure that those persons at work have adequate instructions, information, training and supervision as is necessary for them to perform their work.

02

SS497:2011 Standard

Singapore Standard SS497:2011 (Code of Practice for Design, Safe Use and Maintenance of Overhead Travelling Cranes) states that every crane operator, rigger and signalman should be trained in their respective roles to support safe lifting operations.

03

Legal Consequences

Violation of WSHA 2006 can result in significant penalties. Employers should ensure that personnel operating lifting equipment receive appropriate instruction, training and supervision.
